After a one-day break, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team came back to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to start the 2025 pre-season with today's one-day Barcelona MotoGP Official Test. It was a full-on day for Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins, which they concluded in 2nd and 8th place respectively in the overall timesheets.
Quartararo was eager to make a good start to the 2025 championship and used today's available riding time (from 10:00-17:00 GMT +1) to test an updated aero, chassis, swingarm, and engine, which the Frenchman reviewed positively. He posted a best time of 1'39.199s on lap 44/75 that put him in 2nd position, 0.396s from the top.
Rins had already stated after the Solidarity GP Race that he wanted to spend extra time working on finding a base setting. Apart from this, he tried an updated chassis and engine. With the sun setting quite early, he rode almost non-stop from 11am to 4:30pm, trying to collect as much data as possible. His best time, a 1'39.568s, set on lap 54/60, put him in 8th place, 0.765s from first.
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP riders were joined by new Yamaha recruits Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, who collected extra data for Yamaha's engineers to work with over the winter break.
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP will now recharge their batteries and prepare for the 2025 season. They will be back in action in the new year for the Sepang Shakedown Test from 31 January - 2 February, followed by the Sepang Test from 5 - 7 February and the Buriram Test from 12 - 13 February.
