After making history on 17th November by winning the 2024 MotoGP Riders World Championship with Jorge Martin – the first independent team to achieve this feat since 2001 – Prima Pramac Racing is ready to embark on a new adventure with the launch of an exceptional technical partnership as Yamaha's second Factory Team, which will see its riders compete on the 2025 YZR-M1 bike from the Thailand GP, scheduled for the weekend of 2nd March.
The official unveiling of the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team line-up and livery took place today at the W Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers lit up in the background. The event featured the presentation of the new Pramac Racing project, which will also see the team compete in the Moto2 World Championship from this season onward.
Team Principal Paolo Campinoti expressed great enthusiasm for the start of this multi-year project with Yamaha, with the goal of bringing the Iwata-based manufacturer back to regularly fighting for victories and World Championships as soon as possible. Pramac Racing, soon to celebrate its 25th anniversary in the World Championship (having debuted in MotoGP in the 2002 season), has become one of the top teams in MotoGP in recent years. The new multi-year alliance with Yamaha marks a key step in strengthening the team. Joining Yamaha as a second Factory Team will provide new technical and strategic opportunities, with a focus on continuity of success and future bike development.
After racing for Pramac Racing from 2018 to 2021, with a total of 9 podium finishes, Jack Miller’s return to a team he knows well — and where he matured both as a rider and as a person — feels like a true homecoming. The experience the 30-year-old Australian has gained in recent years, including with other manufacturers, will be crucial in developing the M1
Equally important for the Japanese engineers will be the feedback from Miguel Oliveira, who completes the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP line-up. Like Miller, the 30-year-old Oliveira is a multiple MotoGP winner and one of the most experienced riders on the grid. Although he has struggled in recent seasons due to injuries, he could find the right platform in Yamaha to showcase his talents.
Leading the team from the pits is Gino Borsoi, confirmed as Team Director of Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP. The team, with a few exceptions, largely remains the same as last season. Among the new additions are two new crew chiefs: Giacomo Guidotti, who will work alongside Miller, and Luca Ferraccioli, who will support Oliveira.
A winning partnership remains unchanged: Prima Assicurazioni will once again be the title sponsor of Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP for this season, continuing to support the team in its new adventure. This collaboration between the racing world and the insurance sector highlights a shared vision of innovation and success.
The livery of the 2025 bike has been completely revised, with the purple of Prima Assicurazioni standing out on the front fairing and the central band of the side fairing. The YZR-M1 of Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP now features a completely new design, incorporating different shades of blue to represent the Iwata manufacturer and the entry of new sponsors. The new team colors are also reflected in the garage, pit wall, riders’ leathers, and team uniforms.
Having unveiled their YZR-M1 2025 bikes, Miller and Oliveira will begin familiarizing themselves with their new machines from tomorrow during a two-day shakedown at the Sepang circuit. They will then take part in the first joint session of the MotoGP Winter Test from February 5th-7th, followed by the second and final Winter Test at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand on February 12th-13th.
The Thai GP on the weekend of March 2nd will kick off the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, with the Sprint Race on Saturday and the GP on Sunday. The 2025 season will consist of 22 races, concluding on the weekend of November 16th in Valencia.
While waiting for the riders to take to the track for the first tests and races, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP would like to take this opportunity to thank the various Official Sponsors and Official Partners who have chosen to accompany the team on this exciting new journey.
