Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team’s Remy Gardner completed his testing programme at the Monster Energy British GP, providing Yamaha with useful data. He ended the 20-lap Race in 18th place.
Silverstone (UK), 4th August 2024
Today, Remy Gardner was decked out in the special MotoGP 75th Anniversary colour scheme created by Yamaha Motor Racing as he completed his wild-card experience with the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team. He finished the 20-lap Race at the Silverstone Circuit in 18th place.

Gardner had a decent start from P22 and soon moved up to 18th place. Much like during the Sprint, the Yamaha rider was engaged in battle with Takaaki Nakagami. He managed to keep his Japanese rival at bay for a few laps, but ultimately had to let him pass. The Australian then focused on his own riding. With Joan Mir retiring from the race with 9 laps to go, Gardner crossed the finish line in 18th position, 59.137s from first, and with useful feedback for the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team.

We tried a completely different thing again in Warm Up this morning. I didn't like it, so we went back to what we finished with yesterday. We knew we had some traction problems with that, but I wanted a bike setting I was already familiar with for the Race. When the tyre was new, I could pretty much keep the same pace as the riders in front of me for about 6-7 laps. I was in front of Takaaki for a few laps as well. But I don't have the experience to keep the pace when the tyre drops. That's all down to race experience, and we haven't focused on race pace this weekend, it's all been about testing.
