Lorenzo Daretti (aka Trast73 or Trastevere73) kept his cool in today's Round 2 of the 2024 MotoGP eSport Global Series. The Italian had to give it his all in fierce battles in the Sprint (Buriram, Thailand) and the two Races (Sepang, Malaysia, and Valencia, Spain), securing third, first, and fifth place respectively. These results allowed him to keep third place in the championship standings and narrow down the gap to first and second with one more round (where double points will be awarded in the final two races) to go.
Gerno di Lesmo (Italy), 7th November 2024
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Lorenzo Daretti (aka Trast73 or Trastevere73) was on the hunt for points in today's Round 2 of the 2024 MotoGP eSport Global Series. The three-time MotoGP eSport Champion (in 2017, 2018, and 2021) took part from the BeSharp headquarters in Italy again and had one goal: solidify his position as a title contender. His solid results in a hard-fought Sprint (Buriram, Thailand) and two challenging Races (Race 4 in Sepang, Malaysia, and Race 5 in Valencia, Spain) got the job done, keeping him in third place in the overall standings and still in with a shot to clinch the title at the final round.

Trastevere73 had a strong start to the dry 3-lap Sprint at the Chang International Circuit, commencing it from P3 on the grid. He spent the majority of the short dash for points in fourth position before a hard battle with davideturrisi06 on the last lap. Both eRiders showed great overtaking skills, but Trast73 had the edge and ultimately snatched third place on the last lap, finishing 0.667s from the Sprint winner.

The thrilling Sprint had put Daretti in a fighting spirit for Race 3, held at the Sepang International Circuit, where the eRiders would compete in mixed conditions. Starting the 8-lap contest from P3, Daretti had a great launch but got pushed wide whilst entering Turn 1. However, like a true professional, he kept his head down. He rose through the rankings and took over the lead within the first lap and held it to lap 5, when the white flags came out. The Italian quickly responded, coming into the pits to change bikes. Two rivals bravely stayed out, but with the rain becoming heavier, it turned out Daretti's strategy was the right one. The Yamaha man then faultlessly cruised to his first victory of the season, with a 1.469s lead over second place.

Trast73 was on a high, but things took a turn in Race 4, which consisted of 9 laps in dry conditions at the Valencia track. The Yamaha e-rider started from P2 but couldn't move up the rankings as he was pushed wide twice on the opening lap. All he could do was keep his head down and salvage as many points as possible. He briefly recovered from fourth position to second, but fell back to fourth again. He was on a late charge, but contact during a fierce battle had the Italian touch the green several times, resulting in a long-lap penalty on lap 6. He went on to finish in third place, crossing the line 1.704s from first. However, not having completed the long lap before the end of the race, Trastevere received a time penalty of 3 seconds, demoting him to fifth place.

Trastevere73's efforts in Round 2 of the Global Series keep him in third place with a 76 points total, 3 points from second, and 27 points from first. With double points being awarded at in the final two races, it is still all to play for.

The MotoGP eSport finale will take place on 22 November at a live event in Milan, where the eRiders will take on the Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto (Sprint), the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello (Race 5), and the Circuit of The Americas (Race 6).

The second round of the global Series has ended. I'm quite happy because I regained the speed to fight for first position. And all in all the races did not go badly.

In the Sprint race in Thailand at the Chang circuit, I came third after having a very intense fight for the podium. I managed to overtake Davide Turrisi on the last lap, made it stick, and that's how I kept the third position.

The first full-length Race we competed at the Sepang track in mixed conditions: a flag-to-flag race. I started very well, immediately taking first position, but in Turn 1 Adrian touched me, pushing me wide. There was a big contact when a couple of riders fell, but I managed to stay safe, placing myself in third position. From there, I started to focus on my pace. I managed to overtake the two rivals who stayed out on slicks and bring home the first victory of the season. I am very happy because it is a great injection of confidence.

In the last Race in Valencia, I was second on the grid, and in my head there was only one goal: to win. Unfortunately, things do not always go as expected… I was pushed wide in Turn 1 and again by Adrian after several contacts at the end of the first lap. I found myself in fourth position, and from there I recovered. In my opinion, I did a beautiful race. I recovered to second position, but then, unfortunately, due to contacts and a small 'cut' into the green, I received a long-lap penalty that I had to serve by the end of the race. I passed the finish line in third position, but I didn't complete the penalty, so I finished in fifth in the classifications due to the post-race penalty. It's a real shame because it could have been a good opportunity to recover many points in the standings.

I'm still very happy with my speed. Now we're third in the standings, 3 points from second and 27 points from first. So, I'll keep my head down, and we're aiming to do our best in Milan!
