Gerno di Lesmo (Italy), 10th October 2024
Today, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Lorenzo Daretti (aka Trast73 or Trastevere73) opened his 2024 MotoGP eSport Global Series campaign with some hard battles in Round 1. The three-time MotoGP eSport Champion (in 2017, 2018, and 2021) secured a fourth, third, and fifth place respectively in the Sprint (Mandalika, dry), Race 1 (Motegi, dry) and Race 2 (Phillip Island, dry) to hold third in the overall classifications.
Daretti had secured second place on the grid for the Sprint, fourth place for Race 1, and seventh for Race 2. It set him up for today's fierce battles for crucial championship points.
Trastevere73 was taking part in Round 1 of the Global Series live from the headquarters of beSharp (official Partner of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP eSport Team) in Italy.
The Sprint in Mandalika was only 3 laps long, but still offered plenty of action. A collision with a rival had Lorenzo lose ground early on. However, thanks to the training at beSharp, he managed to keep his head cool and rode strategically. It paid off: he recovered from seventh to fourth, finishing 3.005s from first.
In his second outing, Race 1, Trast73 again showed maturity and professionalism. He had a good start from fourth and slotted into third place. Though he lost a position to Jack Hammer4658, the Italian remained unfazed. Davideturrisi06 crashed out on lap 2/8, moving Trast73 up to third again. Knowing the first two riders had the edge, he focused mainly on the gap to the rider in fourth for the remainder of the race, and it allowed him to hold third position to the very end. He crossed the finish line 4.007s behind the winner.
In Race 2, Daretti had his work cut out for him. He started well from sixth on the grid, and lots of rider contact in the opening stages soon saw the order change, with the Yamaha rider moving up to second place. However, over the next few laps he lost a few positions, falling back to fifth. Showing fighting spirit all the way to the chequered flag, Trast73 was trying to snatch fourth from PieroRicciuti55 but was unsuccessful and finished fifth with a 2.905s gap to first.
Trastevere73's efforts in the first Sprint, Race 1, and Race 2 earned him 33 solid points combined and third place in the rankings for the 2024 MotoGP eSport Championship, with a 29-point gap to first.
The next round will take place on 7 November 2024. Round 2 will include a Sprint at the Chang International Circuit (Thailand), Race 3 at the Sepang International Circuit (Malaysia), and Race 4 at the Riccardo Tormo Circuit (Valencia, Spain).

In the first Sprint race held at the Mandalika track, due to a hard contact on the first lap, I found myself really behind, and I had to catch up. I tried to stay calm and focused and recovered from seventh to fourth position.
In Race 1, in Motegi, I started well, keeping my fourth position on the grid and, taking advantage of a mistake by Davide Turrisi, I went to third position. From here I tried to be constant in the pace without taking risks. The first two riders had something more, so I just tried to manage the gap to the rider in fourth position. It was a bit of a monotonous race but, anyway, I finished in third position, which are important points for the championship.
In Race 2, held at the Phillip Island circuit, I started very well. So much so, that on the first lap I was in second position, but with the passing of the laps I lost some places, also due to many contacts. We were riding on the limit, at the risk of falling. At the end of the last lap, having more speed than my opponent, I tried to overtake Piero Ricciuti, but he defended well, so I finished in fifth position.
Now it's head down for the next Sprint and Races in Round 2. They are tracks that I like, and we'll try to close the gap to first in the rankings.
