Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Arrive in Argentina for MotoGP Round 2

Following the Thai GP, held a fortnight ago, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team packed up their YZR-M1s and flew them across the world to the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo in Argentina for another exciting week of MotoGP action.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins have travelled to Argentina and are ready for battle. After an intense opening round in Thailand, the duo anticipate making a comeback at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo and climb the leader board.

Quartararo is looking forward to returning to Argentina after two years. He only rode at the Termas track three times before in the premier class, securing eighth place in the Race in 2019 and 2022 and seventh in 2023. He came ninth in the newly introduced Sprint that year. The Frenchman is keen to improve on this result this weekend, score some solid points, and make up some places in the overall rankings. El Diablo is currently 13th in the championship standings.

Rins is eager to score his first points of the season this weekend. The return to Latin America for the first time since MotoGP last raced in Argentina in 2023 has him excited. The number-42 rider has been in action on a MotoGP bike at the Termas circuit five times before (from 2017-2019 and 2022-2023), and with success. He brought home two third-place trophies, in 2018 (his first premier-class podium) and in 2022. Whilst he expects a tricky start to the weekend in 2025 due to low grip, he is keen to see how the situation will evolve once there's some more rubber on the tarmac.

The 4.8km long Termas de Río Hondo circuit was first added to the MotoGP calendar in 2014. A devastating fire in February 2021 destroyed a large part of the paddock, but it has since been rebuilt. With an exciting lay-out that includes a mixture of fast corners (five left, nine right) and a 1076m longest straight, the fans can be assured that they will see plenty of racing and overtaking action in Argentina.

The Grand Prix of Argentina is held in the GMT -3 time zone. FP1 will take place on Friday from 10:45-11:30 local track time, followed by Practice from 15:00-16:00. On Saturday, FP2 will be held from 10:10-10:40, the qualifying sessions from 10:50-11:30, and the 12-lap Sprint starts at 15:00. On Sunday, Warm Up is held from 10:40-10:50 and the 25-lap Race starts at 15:00.

"It's nice to be back at the Termas track, where we have so many nice memories. There are many spectators and motorcycle enthusiasts in Argentina, so we are motivated to give them a good show this weekend. We think Friday will be the most difficult day of this GP round as the track conditions will still be very 'green'. This has also been the case at this circuit in the past. But, generally speaking, this track is okay for us, so we expect to get better as the track conditions improve and to score decent results."

"The Thai GP was quite extreme in terms of temperature, especially on the race day. But we learned from the situation, and now we focus on the Argentina GP. We haven't been at the Termas track in a while, so I'm sure the fans there are very happy that we're back again. In the past, this hasn't been an easy track for me, but, as always, we will give it our all to do a good job."

"Yamaha have gone over all the Thai GP data of the first round, and now we go to Argentina. On Friday we will need to focus on managing the grip because it will be low, but this will improve throughout the weekend and then let's see where we stand. For sure, we never stop pushing, also off track. We are very motivated to keep working and doing whatever it takes to improve."
