Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Return to Misano for the Emilia-Romagna GP
Following the San Marino GP and Misano MotoGP Official Test, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are ready to tackle the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli once again. This weekend's Round 14 of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship is the Gran Premio dell'Emilia-Romagna.
Misano Adriatico (Italy), 18th September 2024
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team prepare for the first triple header, a partially overseas one that will see them take on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia, and the Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan. They will kick off the MotoGP action with the Gran Premio dell'Emilia-Romagna in Misano this weekend.
Fabio Quartararo starts the Emilia-Romagna GP ranking 14th in the overall standings. The Frenchman secured solid points during the 2024 San Marino race weekend, securing 9th place in the Sprint and 7th in the Race. He followed it up with a successful Misano MotoGP Official Test. He ended the busy day in 5th position in the Session-1+ Session-2 timesheet.
Álex Rins is in a positive mood after the official IRTA Misano Test. With the new chassis approved and the work on the 2025 prototype engine starting, the Spaniard is kicking off the triple header with renewed energy. As the San Marino Race didn't play out as he had hoped, he is all the keener to have a do-over. He is currently holding 20th place in the championship standings and is aiming to climb further up the order this weekend.
The Misano circuit, constructed in 1972, was a regular scene for Italian Grands Prix throughout the 80s and early 90s. The 4.2 km track is ridden clockwise since a radical renovation was done to meet MotoGP's safety regulations in 2007 that put the circuit back on the MotoGP calendar. The upgrade also included a new chicane, resulting in the current layout of six left and ten right corners and giving the track increased racing excitement.
