Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo stuck to his objective during this afternoon's Gran Premio dell'Emilia-Romagna Sprint, taking seventh place and three championship points. Teammate Álex Rins was forced to withdraw from the Emilia-Romagna GP due to a persisting flu.
Misano Adriatico (Italy), 21st September 2024
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team's Fabio Quartararo aimed for a P6-P9 result for the Sprint at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today. A strong start to the 13-lap contest saw him achieve his goal by securing seventh place. Teammate Álex Rins retired from the Gran Premio dell'Emilia-Romagna after this morning's FP2 session due to illness.

Quartararo started from P9 and rode an aggressive opening lap, battling hard with Marco Bezzecchi. His early efforts gained him two positions. El Diablo then spent the remainder of the Sprint stalking Brad Binder, who was leading a group of four riders, all battling for sixth place. The Yamaha man lined Binder up on the final lap but couldn't get a move in. Quartararo took the chequered flag in seventh place, 8.405s from first.

Today's results see Quartararo remain in 14th place in the overall standings with 64 points. Rins stays in 20th position with 15 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP keep their 9th place in the team championship with 79 points, and Yamaha hold on to 4th position in the constructor's championship with 75 points.

MotoGP will be back tomorrow for Warm Up, held from 08:40 - 08:50 (GMT +2), and the 27-lap Race, which also starts earlier than usual, at 13:00.

Fabio is having a solid weekend so far. He is working in a smart way, and it is paying off. We gradually see improvements materialise, and it's very motivating for the entire team. We will continue to work hard, leaving no stone unturned. We saw that Fabio struggled to overtake today, so we are going to go over the Sprint data tonight to see if we can find something that could help him in tomorrow's Race. We feel very sorry for Álex that he is unable to take part in the remainder of the Emilia-Romagna weekend. Missing Sprints and Races is never fun for a rider, and we hope to have him back in full health soon.

It was a great Sprint race. I enjoyed it on the bike today. Unfortunately, we could not try to put in an overtake on Brad, but let's see if we can make a step tomorrow. The start was good today, so hopefully we can do that again tomorrow and then maybe fight for the top 6 in the Race. We will try to modify a few things. The conditions are always changing, so we will try to adapt to the condition and the temperature of the track.
