Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Start First 2024 Far Eastern Race Weekend in Mandalika
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins have made their way from the Misano World Circuit in Italy to the Mandalika track in Indonesia. They look forward to greeting the incredibly passionate local fans at their third race on Indonesian soil.
Mandalika (Indonesia), 25th September 2024
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins have travelled to the Mandalika International Circuit for this weekend's Grand Prix of Indonesia, Round 15 of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship. The teammates are keen to put on a good show for the passionate Indonesian fans.
Quartararo arrives in Indonesia interested to see if he can reproduce the positive race weekend he had at the Emilia-Romagna GP. He has good memories of racing at the Mandalika track, where he scored a second place in 2022 and third place in the 2023. He is hoping to get a good result again this time round and impress his large Indonesian fanbase.
Rins is keen to get back onto his YZR-M1 again after missing most of the Emilia-Romagna race weekend due to a persisting flu. Not really having had the chance to build further onto his Misano Test findings yet, he aims to do so at the Mandalika circuit. In the previous two races here, he secured fifth (2022) and ninth (2023) place.
The 4.310 km Mandalika International Circuit was built on Lombok Island. Though the longest straight is only 507 m, speed maniacs can still get their kicks at this track. Its layout includes 11 right and 6 left corners – many of them fast, giving the riders plenty of opportunities to overtake.
The Grand Prix of Indonesia is held in the GMT +8 time zone. The FP1 will take place on Friday 10:45 – 11:30 local track time, followed by the Practice session from 15:00 – 16:00. On Saturday, FP2 will be held from 10:10 – 10:40, the qualifying sessions from 10:50 – 11:30, and the 13-lap Sprint starts at 15:00. On Sunday, Warm Up is held from 10:40 – 10:50, and the 27-lap Race starts at 15:00.
